## Overview Edit

Armor reduces the damage a Demigod takes from reinforcement attacks, towers, and enemy Demigod auto-attacks. Increasing a Demigod's total armor will reduce incoming damage from applicable sources.

Note that Demigod spells and item procs are **not** reduced by armor - they will do full damage.

A Demigod's armor value and resulting percentage of damage reduction is listed in the stats window (default hotkey: *c*). The percentage listing shows what percentage of damage received will be negated. For example, if a Demigod with 10% damage reduction is hit for 100 damage, the damage will be reduced to 90 (100 - 10% = 90)

## Formula Edit

The formula used to calculate damage reduction from armor is:

100 x (1 - (2500 / (2500 + Armor)))

For example, The Rook's base armor value is 240. Plugging that number into the equation will produce this:

100 x (1 - (2500 / (2500 + 240)))

- 100 x (1 - (2500 / 2740))
- 100 x (1 - 0.91241)
- 100 x 0.08759 = 8.759%

- 100 x (1 - 0.91241)

The product is rounded to the nearest tenths digit - 8.759% rounds to 8.8%. A digit past the tenths position that is 5 or under will be rounded down, for example 7.154% would be rounded to 7.1%.

Due to the formula used, attaining greater than 60% damage reduction (about 3600 armor) is not cost efficient, due to diminishing returns. Increasing the damage reduction from 60% to 75% requires about 4200 more armor (for a total of 7800 armor) - more than double the armor required for 60%. Further, remember that armor does not reduce skill nor item proc damage.

Since armor does not protect against skills and additional armor has diminishing returns, it is considered more effective to increase the Demigod's maximum health and health regeneration after attaining 60% damage reduction. (This is wrong, armor does have diminishing returns, however effective health does not. For instance, lets say you have a 1000 health and someone is hitting you for a 100 damage a hit. If you get 300 armor you will gain a 10% damage reduction. This means it takes 1000/90= 11.1 secs to kill you. Now lets say you have 50% damage reduction and it takes 20 secs to kill you. Now if you buy another 300 armor on top of that you will have 52.8 % damage reduction. It takes 1000/47.2=21.1 secs to kill you. There are no diminishing returns. The rule of the thumb is that 500 armor increases your effective health- time to life- with 20%. Someone edit this in.)
